We are excited to announce that, with our supporters’ and donors’ help, we raised a grand total of $76,000 for our 2019 Gift of Education campaign! This includes the proceeds from Aidha’s Charity Quiz Night in November, donations collected through Giving.sg and Aidha’s website, as well as off-line contributions.

A warm THANK YOU to all our donors and supporters! Your generosity means that more women will be given the opportunity of financial education, helping them to take their first steps towards economic independence. Our thanks also to all employers who sponsored their helpers for one of our courses!

For this year’s campaign, we shared more than ten stories of our current students, alumni, employers of students and our dedicated volunteers. It was a wonderful opportunity to learn more about the Aidha community and get inspired by their stories and remarkable experiences.

The theme ‘Pass it On’ was to highlight the power of a community that supports each other in order to change lives by passing on strength and knowledge to each other. Students shared the difference Aidha has made in their lives and how they are passing on what they have learned to others in their respective communities.

Aidha’s First Charity Quiz Night

On 19 November 2019, over 80 Aidha supporters – including event sponsors, BTS and Varde Partners, corporate partners Macquarie, We Are Caring, Vertiv (Singapore), and volunteers and friends of Aidha as well as Aidha staff and board members – gathered to celebrate the festive season and kick off Aidha’s 2019 Gift of Education campaign with the inaugural Charity Quiz Night.

One of the most exciting highlights of the evening was the very lively charity auction led by MC Ting Claravall, with fantastic items up for grabs such as a 4-night luxury stay in Villa Levi in Bali from Elite Havens, gourmet lunch for 2 at Punjab Grill MBS, a tasty hamper of Seriously Keto bakery products, Barre2Barre voucher and Nilu Tea, a magnum of champagne from Vintage Wine Club, a Sports Performance Specialists golf fitness screening session, framed print of photos taken from Aidha’s photography competition, and tickets for Wild Rice’s Peter Pan sponsored by an Aidha board member.

Gleia sharing her remarkable story at Aidha’s Charity Quiz Night

The star of the evening was Aidha alumna, Gleia Mae Duenas, who gave a moving testimony of the challenges she has had to overcome and how Aidha has helped her on her path to financial independence and being able to provide a better life for her children. She now owns a student hostel in her home town as well as a printing business and aims to participate in Aidha’s Business Accelerator to grow her businesses in the Philippines.

We raised more than $10,700 that night alone all thanks to the generosity and support of our sponsors, donors and participants!

Every dollar gifted as part of the Gift of Education campaign will go to support Aidha’s work with foreign domestic workers and other low-income women in Singapore.
