How is the course taught?

All teaching is done in the target language (English) and translations will not be used in the classroom. Students will be encouraged to learn the language naturally and instinctively, and the mentor will correct when necessary.

Sessions are practical and interactive and will include both mentor & student led activities. Each class will have students from a mix of nationalities, predominantly Indonesian, Myanmarese and Filipinos.

Students will be given homework, but they will not be required to submit this to the mentor in advance. Instead, at the start of every session, students will work through their homework as a class.

Students will develop their English through:

  • class discussions

  • group discussions

  • pair work

  • a final group presentation

Each session will focus on the following language areas:

  • Grammar

  • Phonics/pronunciation

  • Vocabulary

  • Listening

  • Speaking

How is the class assessed?

There is no formal assessment or grading in this course. Students will receive a certificate at completion but no official qualification is offered.

Students will get plenty of opportunities to practise the new areas of language & they’ll also have access to visual and audio aids to help them practise outside of class too.
