Taking Small Steps Towards Big Dreams: Pa Pa Win’s Journey

Raised by her grandmother in Myanmar, Pa Pa Win had to leave school early and start working at just 12 years old. Though the road wasn’t always smooth, she never gave up on her dream of giving her family a better life.
When she came to Singapore, her goal was specific and clear: to provide her sisters with a good education and build a home for her family. But adjusting to life in a new country wasn’t without its challenges, particularly when it came to language.
That’s when Pa Pa Win discovered Aidha, thanks to the encouragement of her employer. She had always dreamed of opening a restaurant, and Aidha seemed like the perfect place to start making that dream come true. She started her learning journey with Aidha’s Improve Your English course which made her more confident in her communication, and proceeded to enrol for Aidha’s first financial education course, Module 1 – Manage Your Money & Tech.
Pa Pa Win not only gained useful life skills but also transformed the way she saw her future. Her financial mindset shifted, and she learned how to plan and save, which has made a huge difference in her life. “I used to save just $20 a month but now I can save $200 and more. I reduce spending on things like soft drinks; small things make a difference,” she shared.

But it’s not just about numbers for Pa Pa Win – she’s a creative as well. She participated in the Unspoken Life Photography Competition, where her self-portrait, taken during a holiday in Thailand, was displayed at the exhibition. Through photography, Pa Pa Win has found a new way to express herself and at the same time enjoy the many sights the world has to offer!
Today, Pa Pa Win is already seeing the fruits of her hard work. She’s bought land for her family, enrolled her sisters in private school, and is saving for her next big goal: opening her own restaurant in Yangon.
