Every year on 8 March, International Women’s Day, the world reflects on the progress made towards gender equality and celebrates the achievements and strengths of women everywhere. This year, throughout the month of March, we held a special Learning Fest with an exciting array of free activities and classes for all FDWs to learn skills to thrive personally and financially! Working with partners, our goal is to support more women to build their knowledge and skills to prepare for a more sustainable future and working together we managed to host 8 learning sessions over the month!

All smiles at our ‘Working with your Mind, Body & Emotion’ online workshop!

We kickstarted our exciting Learning Fest with a special online workshop, ‘Working with your Mind, Body & Emotions – One Breath at a Time’ led by seasoned Aidha mentor Yina Song. Participants learned how to manage their body, mind and emotions more effectively to continue doing their best in their daily lives.

We also offered sessions of our signature financial short courses – How and Why to Open a Bank Account in Singapore, Understanding Debt and for the first time, our online Introduction to Financial Education workshop. We navigated the challenges of putting our money management game online and enjoyed the experience of playing the game virtually in Zoom break out rooms. Kudos to our Programmes team who managed this admirable feat and to mentors Sai Ming and Lucas Klausen who mastered the game controls with gusto! We also conducted our highly-popular short course on Building Your Resilience. Both existing Aidha students and new students came together online to learn about developing personal resilience and emotional strength.

Learning Fest’s Building Your Resilience session!

As part of our Learning Fest, we invited FDWs to a special edition of Open Day at our office. Attendees took part in our fun quiz on financial and personal skills topics and learned more about our courses from our Student Affairs Manager and our alumnae. It was a fun opportunity to invite prospective Aidha students to preview the Aidha learning experience and a pleasure to meet prospective students in person again!

We also had the pleasure of holding a short, face-to-face course on Understanding Debt. Thanks to our partner Macquarie for kindly opening up their office space to our students and to Macquarie employee Vikram Bangara for volunteering to mentor those who attended the session. Many thanks to all our other Learning Fest partners including Bloomberg LP, the Centre for Domestic Employees, HOME as well as HOKA who offered a special International Women’s Day workshop for our students and alumnae.

Learning about our courses at our Open Day!

As this month is all about celebrating women and our strengths, we also wanted to showcase some amazing stories from our student body! We had the opportunity to work with the talented Emily from Evie Grace Photography to capture amazing portraits for two of our profiles – Mary Rose and Desi. We featured Ismiatun, Mary Rose, Desi and Michel’s remarkable narratives on our social media and we hope their stories can inspire all of us!
