With the skills and training they have received at aidha, they can act not simply as ‘maids’ but as household managers, helping run your household with efficiency, real management skill, and true concern.

If you would like to have your employment notice posted here, please send your short write up with the attached employer position listing form to info@aidha.org. Be sure to include your phone and/or mailing address. We’ll post it for you.

Last month, UNIFEM, National Committee Singapore joined forces with TWC2 and HOME to launch the day.off campaign in support of domestic workers here in Singapore. The intent of this public education campaign is to encourage employers to offer their ‘helpers’ time for a little rest and rejuvenation. We all need time off every once in a while but, according to government statistics, some 50% of domestic workers have NO day off. They work 7 days a week, 365 days a year.

aidha is proud to announce the launch of its inventive new series of storybooks for children. Produced as hard-bound, color illustrated, and personalizable ‘photobooks’, these books help pre-school children better understand and celebrate their family’s structure, parents’ background, and/or their own origins as a birth or adopted child.

Each page features the beautiful artwork of Malaysian artist Thienny Lee as well as the space for your own photo. With your pictures and your own ‘fill in the blank’ notes, the work transforms itself into a family memento your child will cherish for years.

On Thursday, 5 June 2008, the Straits Times, Singapore’s most widely read newspaper, ran a front page feature on aidha!
