managing your money course launched

The second aidha course to open its enrollment was the ‘managing your money’ course, launched on 5 November 2006. Attracting an initial enrollment of 15 students, the course devoted its first session to goal setting. An intensive three hour session, the students worked through multiple ‘motivational’ exercises, helping them define and articulate their motivation for taking control and for launching a coherent money management program.

Managing your Money, a short course of only three sessions, will devote its second and third meetings to such topics as budgeting, saving, and risk management and insurance.

Significant time in each session is devoted to role plays and honest discussion about managing family relationships and expenditure. Between 50 and 100% of our women’s salaries are remitted home each month to support family members there. A central lesson of the aidha ‘managing your money’ program is that money management must be a family matter. For any money management program to be successful, all members must buy-in.
